What is Reiki?
The word Reiki is a Japanese word representing Universal Life Energy. It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If your "life force energy" is low, then you are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, you are more capable of being happy and healthy. A Reiki Practitioner channels this energy through their hands and into the client to help their energies re-balance or unblock.
Benefits of Reiki
Reiki energy brings deep relaxation and reduces stress, anxiety and depression. Reiki can help heal on a spiritual, emotional as well as physical level. One treatment is supposed to be physiologically the equivalent of 3 to 4 hours deep sleep.
If you haven't had a reiki treatment it is normal to feel a bit apprehensive about what happens during a treatment. A full Reiki treatment will last about one hour. The Reiki practitioner will complete a short consultation with you before they begin and will be able to explain what happens and answer any questions that you have. During a Reiki treatment you will remain fully clothed and will be lying down throughout the treatment while your Reiki practitioner uses different hand positions to channel the Reiki to you.
At the Embody Massage & Holistic Clinic we have five Reiki masters who can provide reiki treatments during the daytime as well as evening appointments throughout the week and up till 5pm on Saturdays.
