What is Thai massage?
Thai massage is believed to have been developed more than 2,500 years ago in India.
It made its way to Thailand, where the techniques and principles gradually became influenced by traditional Chinese medicine.
For centuries, Thai massage was performed by monks as one component of Thai medicine.
What does Thai massage feel like?
Thai massage is more energising and rigorous than more classic forms of massage.
Thai massage is also called Thai yoga massage, because the therapist uses her hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches. Many people say Thai massage is like doing yoga without any work.
Muscle compression, joint mobilisation, and acupressure are also used during treatment.
People describe Thai massage as both relaxing and energising.
What should I expect during my visit?
Our Thai massage is done on a padded mattress on the floor as oppose to a traditional massage table.
No oil is applied, so you are fully dressed. Please bring loose, comfortable clothing to wear during your Thai massage.
A typical Thai massage is 90 minutes to two hours long. The massage starts at the feet and with varying pressure progresses to the legs, back and stomach, neck and shoulders. After up to two hours it gently concludes on the head and face.
Ulrika will complete a consultation before your first treatment to make sure you have no contra indications to this type of massage so please arrive about 10 minutes before your appointment. You are advised not eat a heavy meal before coming for a Thai Massage.
