Nutritional Therapy

Why Choose Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional Therapy works holistically on all interlinking systems of your whole body and is more than just eating the right foods. It works to correct any personal vitamin and mineral deficiencies, ensuring these are digested and absorbed properly to promote optimal health. Nutritional therapy aims to get to the root cause of symptoms (as opposed to putting a sticking-plaster over them) and to support your body to maintain health.

What Nutritional Therapy can do for you?

Nutritional Therapy can support with a wide range of health concerns, including:

  • Digestive issues (IBS, constipation, bloating, coeliac)
  • Food sensitivities (allergies and intolerances)
  • Hormonal imbalances (PMS, infertility, menopause, PCOS)
  • Stress management (including sleep disorders)
  • Nervous system (headache/migraine, anxiety, depression, PTSD)
  • Cardiovascular health (high/low blood pressure, angina)
  • Low energy (chronic fatigue/ME, thyroid issues, post viral fatigue)
  • Immune dysfunction (frequent colds, cold sores, hay fever, virus)
  • Skin complaints (acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea)
  • Sports training and athletic performance
  • Structural conditions (arthritis, gout, osteoporosis)
  • Respiratory complications (asthma, bronchitis)
  • Healthy ageing

Nutritional therapy compliments but does not replace any GP/NHS Healthcare Provider treatment

What You Can Expect from Nutritional Therapy

Prior to the initial assessment you will be sent:

·         A questionnaire (including symptoms, family history, supplements and medications);

·         A three day diet diary; and

·         A statement with our terms of engagement

You’ll be asked to complete and return these documents to Patricia 2 days before your first appointment so that they can be reviewed beforehand. At the initial appointment, you and your Nutritional Therapist will assess how each system of your body is working and discuss appropriate and achievable changes to make.  You will then be sent a nutrition plan and supplement recommendations which is personalised to you and your specific needs (rather than a more common 'one size fits all' approach).

In some instances some functional testing may also be recommended. This may include:

·         Thyroid assessment

·         Adrenal stress assessment

·         Female hormone panel

·         Hair mineral analysis

·         Digestive and parasitology testing

·         Food Intolerance indicator

These tests may be appropriate in supporting the development of a more targeted and personalised nutrition plan.

Please note that the above tests are only offered alongside a nutritional therapy consultation to ensure accurate interpretation of results. Accessing the most appropriate tests can be discussed after the initial consultation, where a full health history is taken.

Follow up appointments are generally 4 weeks after the initial assessment. You may benefit from multiple follow up appointments depending on your personal circumstances.

Recommended changes can be made gradually or all at once; you set the pace.
